Sports for All

Sports for All is a podcast about speaking to people who are passionate about sport and overcoming barriers to accessing sporting opportunities. It is a way for people of all ages, particularly young people, to feel empowered and encouraged to get involved in the sporting world. The Sports for All Podcast is hosted by Eden Byrne who is a youth social activist from Northern Ireland. Eden is passionate about inclusivity and accessibility for young people and does a lot of campaigning around mental and physical health. She uses her love of sports, such as taekwondo, to encourage people to get involved in youth social action.

After being forced to step back from sport, she discovered a new passion in volunteering. Now, she dedicates her time to organisations like St John Ambulance and Ingeus, supporting communities across the county and helping to keep athletes safe at major sporting events like the London Marathon.

This episode of the Sports for All Podcast features Milan Antonvic, who is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for Mental Health at the University of Birmingham, where his research focuses on the mental health of young people. Milan's work places particular emphasis on underserved communities and explores the role of physical activity in promoting psychological well-being. Driven by a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, Milan aims to address mental health disparities through both research and practical interventions.
Alongside his PhD studies, Milan is also training as a cognitive behavioural therapist, enabling him to bridge the gap between academic research and clinical practice.
Outside of academia, Milan enjoys training for triathlons and playing the drums. A personal highlight in his sports journey was becoming the Serbian National Champion in Middle Distance Triathlon in 2023.
