Sports for All
Sports for All is a podcast about speaking to people who are passionate about sport and overcoming barriers to accessing sporting opportunities. It is a way for people of all ages, particularly young people, to feel empowered and encouraged to get involved in the sporting world. The Sports for All Podcast is hosted by Eden Byrne who is a youth social activist from Northern Ireland. Eden is passionate about inclusivity and accessibility for young people and does a lot of campaigning around mental and physical health. She uses her love of sports, such as taekwondo, to encourage people to get involved in youth social action.

This episode of Sports for All Podcast features Anura Mathis M.A., LPCC, who trains in martial arts (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling). She started training in 2021 after leaving a domestically violent relationship. She sought out martial arts for self-defense but fell in love with mastering techniques and confidence. She practices as an EMDR Therapist focused on treating trauma in people of all ages.
She started her Bachelor's degree and career in psychology in 2008. She started her virtual private practice, Freedom 2 Connect Counseling, after finishing her Master's degree in December 2019. EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy can help treat traumatic symptoms in people suffering from all forms of trauma, in only a few sessions, and in some clients, symptoms are 100% resolved, permanently!
She also hosts the Freedom 2 Fight Podcast where she interviews martial arts practitioners, therapists, artists, entrepreneurs, etc about their martial arts journey. She finds that martial arts truly helps to heal trauma (mental health) and empower her life.

She's especially passionate about creating opportunities for young people to lead and get involved — whether that’s through local clubs, sporting events, or youth programmes. She believes sport should be a space where every young person feels like they belong.
Emily (they/them) is GM Moving's People & Leadership Lead where they work to show everyone that they can help others to live more active lives. One of their main passions is tackling inequalities. Outside of work, they're a huge fan of sport - playing and supporting cricket and football has always been a big part of their life.

This episode of Sports for All Podcast features Nur Hakeemah Burhanudin, who is an 18 year old British taekwondo national athlete representing the south region of England. She has been a competitive athlete for almost 3 years now, but training in general for almost 15 now (crazy how time flies!). She holds a 3rd Dan Black belt, specialises in poomsae, and has been teaching as a coach/assistant for over 6 months now. She's also done some Taekwondo workshops for girls in rural Malaysia through her charity work!
Outside of sports, Nur is currently a gap year student and is about to do a political science degree in September. Though Taekwondo came with a lot of difficulties growing up, she's grown a fond love and passion for it and can't imagine her life without it.

Ciara McCarthy is a disability content creator and activist who shares their experiences as a multiply disabled person. They have cerebral palsy, autism, and profound hearing loss. Growing up with two sisters who played shinty, Ciara often had to adapt and find their path in sport. At 12, they discovered wheelchair basketball, and by 20, they found a passion for wheelchair rugby. Through their content, Ciara highlights the realities of disabled life and advocates for inclusion.

He has worked with and supported most of the LGBTQ+ Sports teams in Ireland and works with many of the NGB's and political parties to improve rights and access to mental and physical health services in Ireland.
